Annual Report
The Situation:
Emerald
People's Utility District always looks for ways to improve their high
level of customer and community service. Simply publishing and mailing
the basic annual report that most ratepayer owners discard without reading
seemed like a missed opportunity to provide value.
The Assignment:
Develop a calendar that included the annual report. Showcase local
photographers' calendar quality shots of the district and include significant
community dates for all fairs and festivals in their diverse service
area. Use the utility mascot "Homer" to illustrate and narrate
key energy and safety tips.
The Solution:
To keep costs down, we solicited photos for use in the calendar from
local professional and semi-professional photographers either at no
cost. Thematically illustrating each month with "Homer" provided
a whimsy and charm that made the data come to life.
Results:
The response from the ratepayer owners was very strong, and gave EPUD
a positive connection with their customers throughout the year. Demand
for the calendar/annual report exceeded the number printed, and more
were printed the next year.
